Are You Ready For Some Football
Joy and I had just gotten home. She had accompanied Cherry Powell singing her famous rendition of "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" and the door bell rang and there was a friend that I hadn't seen for several months. I remember sometime ago when he came up to me at the end of a church service to share that he had decided to play semi-pro football.
It was great to see Kevin and Melinda Dunn again. He shared that they were having a winning season and looked like they were going to make the playoffs.
What is significant is that most of the players are about half Kevin's age and he is doing phenomenally.
Check them out at www.stallionfootball.net.

Cell Phones
Do you want one of these?
I just read a report that amazed me.
It stated that number of mobile phone subscriptions in the world will reach four billion by the end of the year driven by growth in developing economies.
Mobile phone subscriptions topped 3.3 billion by the end of 2007.
The growth is due primarily to the developing markets in Brazil, Russia, India and China.
China passed the 600 million mark by July 2008.
It has become the world's biggest mobile phone market.
I was also reading in the USA TODAY on Friday about a family that has 5 cell phones and 4 children. But two of the children were under 5.
I guess I should talk to some of the teachers in schools to find out just how pervasive cell phones are.
According to Wikipedia, as of September 2008, the world's population is estimated to be just over 6.725 billion
U.S. Population 305,276,187World Population 6,726,476,895
These populations are from the U.S and World Population Clocks.
Here's a novel way to NOT lose your phone....
Forget the Iphone. Get a LOBE phone! Be the first in your school!
I've often said, the next thing you know, they are going to implant a chip in our tooth, connected another implant in our ear and it will be powered by the electricity our body produces.
Look what I found on a google search. Hmmmm...

HEY ARKANSAS!!!
(Map for illustration purposes only :) )
Hey Arkansas, what's the deal.
As I looked at Google analytics for my blog, it was obvious that the ONLY state I have not had any hits from is Arkansas. All the other states are shades of green, but Arkansas shows up as WHITE!
Now there may be several reasons for that...
They don't believe in reading blogs, just shootin' hogs.
They don't have computers (I know this isn't true because my brilliant and gifted niece and her husband have several)
Their mad that Huckabee did'nt get nominated to run for Pres or V Pres and they are fasting from computers.
They show up as "white" because they are FORGIVEN!...
well....
Well, I hope that someone accesses my blog from Arkansas. My great grandfather and great grandmother (Isaac Webster and America Thornton) are buried in Arkansas and reportedly my great, great grandfather is also buried near Hot Springs. I want to go and find that grave site.

GIVE ME SOME CAPTION IDEAS
Dragging Sin
Look at this passage. Isn't it a powerful word picture?
"What sorrow for those who
drag their sins behind them with ropes made of lies,
who drag wickedness behind them like a cart!"
(Isaiah 5:18)
"Dragging their sin with ropes made of lies..."
WOW!
Don't you love God's Word?!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JILL
Today is Jill's birthday.
What an incredible young woman she is.
She is multi-talented in so many areas.
I am just proud to be her father.
She had a great day, topped off with going out to Benihana and then a little shopping at Von Maur, talking to the family on the way home and then chocolate cake.
Happy Birthday Jill.
LOVE, Dad
Spiral Starecase
That was a song by the Spiral Starecase.
That tune and those lyrics brought back some fun memories.
Then I found some of their other songs that were popular at that time.
Good songs!
BROKEN-HEARTED MAN by Spiral Starecase
OUR DAY WILL COME by Spiral Starecase
the videos are kinda psychedelic. But that was common for that era.
I like to research and here's some info about the group.
The group formed in Sacramento, California as the Fydallions, counting up in their ranks saxman Dick Lopes and bass player Bobby Raymond, Harvey Kaye on organ, Vinnie Parello on drums, and lead vocalist and guitarist Pat Upton, who hailed from Alabama. They auditioned for Columbia Records, who loved the group but hated their name.
Pat Upton was born in Alabama in 1940. "I have sang all my life and grew up singing gospel music. (how often has that been true!) I was introduced to the electric guitar when I was about 19. Duane Eddy and the Ventures were my favorites when I started playing. Shortly thereafter, I joined the Air Force and really learned to play guitar there.
The Spiral Starecase may be a one-hit wonder group, but if you're only going to be allotted one, then their "More Today Than Yesterday" is the type of solitary charter you want as your lasting legacy. A bouncy shuffle that has become a heavy rotation staple of oldies radio, the tune sports a simple but well-crafted lyric and a melody that sticks to the brain and refuses to leave. A further look into the group's scant discography reveals that musically, the group was capable of even more hits, had not poor management and sheer bad luck cut their career short.
I cracked up when I found this video of the group.
Notice the footwork of the bass player

Dude Your Dell is Dead.2
Checking on Google analytics, Hewlett Packard and Dell have been to my website checking it out.
Hey you guys.... Somebody from either of these corporations needs to contact me.

Hewlett Packard stole their idea from my post!
I googled "dude your dell is dead" and my blog was the 5th search item that came up.
August 2nd, I posted about my Dell computer dying.
DUDE, I DIDN'T buy an HP, I bought another Dell.
Interesting. Hey HP, give me some credit! Or a residual.

hardwaregeeks.com — HP is running an ad in major news papers with the headline "Dude your, Dell Died 5 hours ago" after their Elitebook 6930p was demoed at a press event and passed mobile mark with 24 hours of battery life. Dell Claims their Latitude has 19 hours of battery life.
