Happy Anniversary

Today is the 38th anniversary of our wedding day.
WOW. It doesn't feel like that at all.
I can recall that day so clearly.

I am so thankful for an incredible lady that God has graced my life with.

Happy Anniversary Joy.

"I love you more today than yesterday.
And not as much as tomorrow."

That was a song that was popular when we were dating
More Today Than Yesterday by Spiral Starecase (yes that is the correct spelling)

Here's a cute YouTube someone put together.
So it will have the music I remember with my lady 38+ years ago.

Thanks to who developed this cute video. Watch it up to about 3:00 min.

I don't remember what day it was
I didn't notice what time it was
All I know is that I fell in love with you
And if all my dreams come true
I'll be spending time with you

Every day's a new day in love with you
With each day comes a new way of loving you
Every time I kiss your lips my mind starts to wander
And if all my dreams come true
I'll be spending time with you

Oh, I love you more today than yesterday
But not as much as tomorrow
I love you more today than yesterday
But, darling, not as much as tomorrow

break

Tomorrow's date means springtime's just a day away
Cupid, we don't need ya now, be on your way
I thank the lord for love like ours that grows ever stronger
And I always will be true
I know you feel the same way too

Oh, I love you more today than yesterday
But not as much as tomorrow
I love you more today than yesterday
But only half as much as tomorrow

Closed Early

I went to a store that doesn't see a lot of me.
And they didn't give me a chance to give them some of my business.
I don't buy a lot of cards in a year, Joy gets most of the cards we send to family and friends.

Oh, that reminds me of the time about 25 years ago and I was so proud that I had remembered to get an anniversay card for Joy. I handed it to her, I had written some sweet and caring things in it. She opened it, looked at me kinda strange, said "thanks" and I realized I had given her a birthday card on our anniversary. I felt really dumb.

Tomorrow is our 38th wedding anniversary and I wanted to get an anniversary card for my wife.
I admit, I was cutting it close, but I went up to the door, the lights were on, someone was "home", but the doors were locked. I pulled out my cellphone to make sure of the time and it was 8:58.
So, I pulled out my phone and took a quick pic.

Bummer.

But there was another store still open and I found a very nice card there.

Sorry Hallmark. What's their motto? Something about "when you care enough to send...."
I checked their corporate website and they don't say anything about closing early. I know.. I'm just having fun.
But maybe it's a good thing.
I "googled" "When you care enough to send the very best" and found that some conservative organizations are protesting Hallmark because of some of the new product they have developed.
Google it for yourself.

Tons of rain

It has rained solid for two days in Chicago.
Thank God for a good sump pump.
Bill Hybels said that his basement flooded with 20 inches of water.

The Chicago Sun Times reports...

We're swamped
RECORD RAIN | 7-inch downpour floods basements, roads, briefly cuts off O'Hare

A record downpour lasting more than 24 hours dumped more than 7 inches of rain on parts of the Chicago area, sending rivers and creeks surging over their banks, flooding streets and basements throughout the city and suburbs and briefly cutting off access to O'Hare Airport on Saturday.

The rain, which set a one-day record of 6.81 inches at O'Hare, was expected to continue though this evening with another 2 to 3 inches of precipitation expected -- thanks to a boost from remnants of Hurricane Ike.

Yesterday I checked the rain gauge and it had three inches in it.
That is the most I ever recall emptying from a rain gauge.
The rain is beginning to let up and it looks like there is another 2.5 inches in it.

Yesterday, the sump pump was cycling every 29 seconds. When we got home for church today, I checked it and it was cycling every 22 seconds.

But our rain and flooding in the area is nothing compared to what Galveston and Houston have had to deal with.

And the sun just peeked through the clouds! (4:34 PM CDT)

The Wheels on the Bus go ROUND AND ROUND

Isn't that the song that's popular with little children?
Probably not with these kids.

Bus Driver Suspended After Circling With Children On Board

POSTED: 7:08 am EDT September 4, 2008

NEW YORK -- The driver of a school bus that circled Brooklyn for nearly five hours while carrying about a dozen kindergartners and first-graders has been suspended.

Authorities say the 53-year-old driver claimed he had gotten lost Wednesday while ferrying the children from the Achievement First Brownsville Charter School to their homes.

Parents say their children were shaken by the ordeal that ended when police were called and were finally able to reach the driver.

Though he was arrested, the Brooklyn district attorney's office has decided not to prosecute the driver.

The company he worked for, Lonero Transit Inc., says it is trying to determine what happened with the driver. A lawyer for the company calls the man's behavior "bizarre."

Do you think the kindergartners and 1st graders were singing this song?

What do you think those parents were singing?!??!

Joy Knows Salsa

My wife is an amazing chef. Actually, this time... a salsa chef. Sunday night August 17, I was so hungry for salsa and chips. Joy had planned on making quesadillas so I said, "I'm going to go over to Friaco's on Essington and get some chips and salsa. They have great chips and salsa. I got two orders for about 5 bucks and we had a feast.
This past week, Joy found some great recipes and we have homemade salsa. WOW, it is muy maravilloso.
Today, I ladled salsa over my omelet. WOW was it good.

I continue to marvel at how this wonderful Norwegian can cook circles around ANYONE!
